2010 Year Ender

2010 is coming to an end. I went through my photo folders to refresh what I have captured on the camera.

Chinese New Year 2010 at home. Chinese New Year 2011 is coming again soon, 3 and 4th February 2011. Time really flies.

I am glad to meet lovely, energetic and encouraging friends from SCMC.

Celebrated my 23rd birthday at IOI mall. Thanks to my friends who have organised and celebrated with me :)

Joined UPM's photoshoot session. Only one or two photos taken but I enjoyed the experience. This reminded me of how Jia Yiing and I rushed from the equestrian park to SCMC for a party. Could not remember what party, but we asked for fork and spoon from Chinese Vegetarian Stall Uncle to bring to the night gathering.

Ice-skated twice in Sunway Pyramid during my 2 years study in UPM.

After 2 years, I am back to Ka En Chinese Methodist Church where there are more juniors who are going to church now. Praise the Lord! I am glad to be able to drive the church van again, at least I can help in a way, but not playing piano. It was disastrous. Luckily Annie Lau was there to help me :P

First time Hari Terbuka Asrama. I thought we can visit everyone's hostel. hahaha

My first Punjabi suit for Moe's brother's wedding which lead to buying MORE punjabi suits in Little India, Singapore.

Celebrated Ed and Sean's birthday.

and Jia Yiing's birthday in Melaka. Could not find the photo, but thinking back, it was memorable. My first time planning a bday surprise and I was so 'kinteo'. Hid in the bathroom with others and screamed loudly when she entered the room. hehehehhehe =P

Finally Karaoke-ed again

Met up with girl friends in Singapore!

Overnight at Changi Airport with Diana Lo, Jia Yiing and Faisal!

Visited Singapore Zoo with Jia Yiing, Amir and Ed. Interesting and impressive animal shows. Really worth the Singapore dollars we paid. haha

Bali! tried parasailing and jet ski!

Those are among the wonderful memories I had, that I could find in photos. I thank God for His providence for me. There are ups and downs, but I want to remember the happy ones. Choices are made - right and wrong ones, but life has to go on. I am seldom enthusiastic, so I am forcing myself to be enthusiastic for 2011! WHeee~

I hope that everyone have had a wonderful and fruitful year :)

Bali Day 3 Ubud-Kintamani

photo taken at a monument (i can't remember its name)

'banjur'

All along the road you can see this 'banjur' being put up outside houses or buildings. It is in time with the Galungan and Kuningan Festival.

The Galungan festival, Bali's major feast, is held throughout the island and is an annual event in the wuku year. During this ten day period all the gods, including the supreme deity Sanghyang Widi, come down to earth for the festivities. Barongs prance from temple to temple and village to village. The last and most important day of the ten day festival is called Kuningan. (www.bali-paradise.com)

In the morning, we went to visit Batik factory, Gold and silver factory and the art gallery. Very impressive.

at the Batik Factory. Their products are sold in US dollars. Freaking expensive after conversion.

Arowana made from silver. (Ed, don't need to rear, everyday can see on the wall.
haha. just kidding)

Lunch at Bebek Tepi Sawah

The duck looks very skinny ya?

Mount Batur, an active valcano on Bali. Due to cloudy weather, we could not see the volcano clearly. The weather there was cold!

Tried spa for the very first time! felt really refreshed after the 2 hours massage and flower bath.

Babi Guling for dinner. Budi the tour guide recommended this instead of Ibu Oka Babi Guling which most tourist go for in Bali.

After the tour ended, we walked towards Kuta Beach and Hard Rock Hotel and Hard Rock Cafe was nearby. I want that shirt! but it cost RM90. So I ended up talking photo with the t shirt only. haha!

Bali Day 2

Weather was great for water sports, so we headed to Nusa Dua!

Took a boat ride to Turtle Island - a turtle conservation area. Turtle eggs are hatched there. Turtles are taken care of until a certain age and they will be released to the sea. The turtle I took photo with is about 60 years old.

Tried parasailing and jet ski for the first time! It was awesome! Scary at first when I looked down, but after that I enjoyed the ride when I looked at the surrounding (instead of worrying about falling off the parachute). It ended so fast that I did not want to come down.

Budi brought us for lunch. Reasonable price, delicious food, fast service :)

Padang-padang beach

After that we visited two more beaches - Dreamland beach and Padang-padang beach. Padang-padang beach was the location of one of the scenes in Eat.Pray.Love. Even Budi was shocked to see the crowd at the beach. It was a small and crowded beach. He showed us a photo he took a few months ago where there were not many people there. I guess after the movie, many would want to visit this beach.

Next up was Uluwatu Temple, where there are many monkeys that grab people's belonging. Even my camera was almost snatched if the tour guide did not fasten it tightly on his wrist.

mischievous look

We ended the day with dinner at Jimbaran Bay :) It was supposed to be by the beach, but it rained not long after we sat down by the beach. So we sat indoors after that. =P

Bali Day 1

MH is indeed Malaysian Hospitality! MAS has always made me happy whenever I am on their flight. WHy? because I get to order as many glass of juice that I want and I get to eat on board! Yay! Compared to Air Asia, I will sleep throughout the flight hoping not to smell the food others are eating. haha!We board on MH 853 bound to Depensar, Bali. The flight was slightly delayed and we reached Ngurah Rai International Airport at 7pm, 30 mins delay. Luckily Mr Budi, our tour guide was still waiting for us, holding up a sign 'Ms Yvonne Ling'. Actually I was quite worried because I did not know how Mr Budi looked like, but who knows he already know how I look like, thanks to Facebook. I did not know that was him, so I did not respond to his friend request.

Anyways, he drove us to the hotel, Kuta Beach Club and we discussed our plans for the following 4 days. After discussion, Budi dropped us outside Discovery Mall as we wanted to see nearby places.

Their taxis are Toyota Vios

The roads are more narrow, compared to roads in Malaysia and horses with carriage travel on the same road too! As we stayed in Kuta, the traffic is heavy, with road constructions here and there. Drivers honk all the time, indicating that they are approaching, so beware!

So the first night was free for us to walk and have a good night rest!

3rd Wisdom Tooth Extraction

I went for my third wisdom tooth extraction. This time the gum has to be cut open, before sawing the tooth and taking the tooth out. The nurses were arranging the tools needed when I took that photo and waited for half of my jaw to be numb. Thank God for anesthetic, for I did not feel the pain when they work on my tooth (i felt the pain 3 hours later).

This is the 4th day and left jaw is still a bit swollen. This 4 days, I have thinking about food all day long, all the food that I could not bite. Nevertheless, I enjoyed eating porridge from different stalls. I drank Ensure Milk too as meal replacement , very nice taste for milk, it's vanilla flovoured. I ate Spaghetti Carbonara today, but had to cut the pasta into small tiny chunks before putting them into my mouth.

The thread will be removed tomorrow and I look forward to eating normally. Weeee~

Long distance relationship

today I heard a story from mix.fm. They were talking about how much a guy is willing do for a long distance relationship. A caller called in and told his story.

"My girlfriend is in Australia and I am in KL because I had to take care of my parents. I fly over to Australia twice a year to visit. There is this one time I planned a surprise visit to Australia. I told her that I could no go over but I went. I reached the her house in Australia, rang the door bell and a guy answered the door. I looked in and saw that they were having dinner. My girlfriend looked shocked that I appeared. I asked "who is he?" and she answer that he's a colleague. Judging from the dinner, it looked more than a friendly dinner. I left and headed straight to the airport and we never talked since that day."

The radio DJ took the initiative to call his girlfriend who was in Australia. I was like" what you guys are seriously calling her?"

THe girl picked up and explained that the guy was just a friend who has helped her a lot during her stay in Australia and it was a thank you dinner. She has tried calling him after he left but the guy said that his phone never rang all these while. The guy said "It's over, we don't have to talk about this anymore and this is the last time we're talking" and hung up the phone.

Tet. I guess the radio Dj and the girl including myself were stunned. Of course they quickly played a song after that.

(the story is not in the exact words, those are what are remembered)

The story is still lingering in my mind.

I really admire those who has survived long distance relationship and is still surviving and making it work.

December

It's already December. The year is coming to an end soon. During holiday, time seem to fly, during school days, time seem to pass real slow as I look forward to holidays. One more month left before classes start again.

VBS 2010

Helping out at VBS (Vacation Bible School) this year is different for me. I went to replace my aunt because she was busy. So I helped out as a guide. It was quite an easy task for me. I just had watch the children, help them in their crafts when they need help, make sure that all of them (9-10 years old) go to the different activity centres safely.

This is Day 3, although I was the guide, I also listen to the bible story. Although I am 23 years old and I have heard the stories in Sunday School, the stories still speak to me in a different way now.

Day 1 - Loved and Accepted by Jesus

Jesus accepts us the way we are. Jesus looks at our heart. Our heart cannot be seen, but it is shown from our attitude, behaviour and belief. Whatever we do or say reflects what is in our heart. I like the way the teacher tell the story, simple explanations and elaboration to help the children understand, and also this big child understand.

Who am I? I am loved and accepted by Jesus

How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God
1 John 3:1

Day 2 - Protected by Jesus

Keep our eyes on Jesus. Peter took a step of faith and walked on the water, but when he lost sight of Jesus, he began to sink. When he called out to Jesus, Jesus reached out to Peter and protected him.

Who am I? I am helped and protected by Jesus.

I am the Lord, your GOd, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear, I will help you Isaiah 41.13

Day 3 - Saved by Jesus

Jesus is here to save all of us. For God so loved the world that he sent his one and only begotten son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16) Will your friends die in your place for what you have done wrong? Jesus died on the cross for our sins and rose again on the third day.

Who am I? I am given salvation and eternal life by Jesus

If you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord" and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9

Day 4 - Forgiven by Jesus

We have all done wrong. We are sinners. Peter denied Jesus 3 times after Jesus was arrested. When Jesus rose again on the third day, Jesus met Peter. Jesus forgave Peter. Not only he was forgiven, he was given a fresh start to commissioned to share Christ's love with others. We need to seek forgiveness from God and protect us from sin.

Who am I? Jesus has forgiven me and gave me a fresh start.

You are forgiving and good, O Lord, abounding in love to all who call to you. Psalm 86:5

Bruno Mars - Just The Way You Are

have been listening to this song everyday while driving. Lucky whoever the girl is...to be accepted the way she is.

Back to school

I like like I am a little girl going back to school. My mother packs an container for me with fork and spoon for VBS. and my mother puts a tissue in the bag. I was touched, I mean, she put a tissue in. The first day, I did not have tissue.

sometimes

sometimes sorry does not make any difference and there is no other way to express your apology. What do you do then?

sometimes you want to care, but the other person just does not allow you to care.

sometimes things are impossible and you know that it would not work, but why do you still venture into it?

sometimes you know that that is a more rationale thing to do, but why do you not go for it?

Car Wash

Have you ever want to be presentable when you meet people?

I do.

When I reached home and looked at the car, there were spider webs because no one used it for a long time I guess and I cannot remember the last time it was washed. I need to use the car tomorrow and it is dirty. It's too late to send for car wash, I persuaded my sister, Sandra to help me wash the car. Haha. Mean sister. The rain started pouring when I decided to wash the car but the washing still have to proceed, so we washed the car under the rain.

Wash, wash, Splash, splash.
Faster, raining dy.
Must get it done fast.

This is my lovely sister enjoying her task.

Today's car wash was the fastest that I have ever done. Due to the rain and the rush to get it done before my parents return. Anyways, the car looks better now.

Yay!

Pain

Is undergoing pain to make ourselves feel better worth it? We mask our insecurities with smiles and being carefree. After the pain is over, I tell myself, I don't want to go through it again. But when time comes, I guess I will go through that pain again. But I guess, it's okay, because it is for the better :)

Physical pain

Emotional pain

Why do we have to go through them?

Today I went to the hospital to schedule my appointment for another minor oral surgery for my wisdom tooth. Looking at senior citizens as I walk past makes me sad. It makes me think, what will I become when I grow older. If I am alone, who will hold my hands? How if I cannot walk properly. I will be a burden.

Enough of pessimistic thoughts for now. =)

I am home!

Before the exams, I look forward to be back home and do nothing. Just sit back and relax. I don't want to read my books, don't want to think about assignments and exams.

Now I am home! Yay!

What should I do during hols?

L-O-V-E

Just stumble upon a nice song :)

L-O-V-E by Nat King Cole

L.O.V.E. Lyrics

L is for the way you look at me
O is for the only one I see
V is very, very extraordinary
E is even more than anyone that you adore and

Love is all that I can give to you
Love is more than just a game for two
Two in love can make it
Take my heart and please don't break it
Love was made for me and you

(trumpet instrumental)

L is for the way you look at me
O is for the only one I see
V is very, very extraordinary
E is even more than anyone that you adore

Love is all that I can give to you
Love is more than just a game for two
Two in love can make it
Take my heart and please don't break it
Love was made for me and you
Love was made for me and you
Love was made for me and you

Two post in a Day

It has been three days and I don't feel like working on my assignments at all..

What's going on with me?

Dreadful Visit to the Dentist

The wall of my mouth has been painful for three days. It appears to be ulcer like, but to be safe I went to the dentist for checkup, to see if the wisdom tooth is giving me trouble.

I woke up at 645am and reached the govt clinic at 720am, and I got number 23! Grr. Sigh, another long queue.

Surprisingly,I managed to enter the consultation room by slightly past 830am.

Unexpectedly, the dentist said that the wisdom tooth has to be extracted and can be done immediately! i was expecting a referral letter to the specialist and I can go home and wait for my appointment. I was very unprepared but did not want my waiting effort to go down the drain so I said ok. 2 needles/injection (i don't know how to call it) of anesthetic and I was asked to wait outside for 5 minutes.

My name was called and I entered the room again. I watched the dentist extract the guy's tooth in less than 1 minute and it was my turn next.

Me: Doctor, "DAp Dup Dap Dup" la...
Dentist: Don't worry...
Me: How if I have less wisdom?
Dentist: No such thing, my ex girlfriend professor now ba...
Me: Painful or not...
Dentist: A bit, very fast one.. if painful u can stop me..
Me: How to stop?
Dentist: Just raise your hands..
Me: Oh...
Dentist: ok.. Open your mouth..
Nurse: Relax.. relax..

Soon, my tooth was extracted.

Me: Doctor, any painkiller? the gargle thing?
Dentist: Need to buy on your own outside, no money already..no painkiller.
Me:oh..

One more tooth to go in December.

Biting the gauze, I drove my way home.

one night at the airport

3rd September, 4pm we (Yiing, Diana, Faisal and I) sat the Causeway Link bus to Singapore. Our flight back to kuching is the next day, 4th Sept.

I wanted to take two seats, one for my luggage, one for me but the bus driver told me that the officer counted the number of people getting up the bus so I cannot take to seats. So I had to lift my legs and rest it on the luggage the whole journey to Bugis.

The lady next to be looked at me taking my own photo, so I turned and took Yiing and Diana's photo too =P

Our dinner at Zam Zam.

Yummy Nasi Briyani, Air Kasturi and Murtabak. $6.50 each.

With our luggage, we could not walk around Bugis after dinner, so we headed straight to Changi Airport.

and played with the escalator

Arrived at Terminal 2

We decided to spend the night at Terminal 3 because there were less people and there were more seats for us to sleep on. haha. However, the seats were hard and it was very cold. Thank God for sofas at coffee bean, Diana and I finally went to sleep there at 3am.

9am, we departed back to Terminal 1.

Before departure.
